Todd E. Behrens

Todd Behrens counsels clients on various intellectual property matters.  He is a registered patent attorney, licensed in Ohio and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Todd has extensive experience in patent procurement and strategic patent portfolio development in the electrical, mechanical, software, biomedical, and business method technology fields. Additionally, he has conducted due diligence in preparation of various Intellectual Property transactions, rendered invalidity, non-infringement, patentability, and freedom to operate opinions, counseled clients with respect to trademark selection, and prepared and prosecuted trademark applications.

Todd’s technical expertise encompasses a wide range of technologies. More particularly, his patent experience spans software design, wireless technologies, autonomous vehicles, sensor systems, computer hardware, web-based innovations, communication protocols, networking, digital signal processing, analog and digital circuit design, semiconductors, industrial automation systems, electronics, medical devices, and mechanical devices.

Todd previously was an adjunct professor of law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he taught in the Intellectual Property Entrepreneur Clinic.

Todd earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with majors in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University in 2000, and a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2005.
